Development Services

Our development expertise extends to projects of all shapes and sizes, whether it’s a high-rise office building, an academic building for a university campus, a hospital or a sprawling luxury hotel. Our buildings form the backbone of the Knoxville skyline, and we’re putting our touch on other distinguished locales such as Nashville, New Orleans, Dover and Montego Bay, to name a few.

At Lawler-Wood, we’re absolutely committed to a project’s completion on time and on budget. What’s more, we add significant value by going above and beyond what’s stated in the contract in order to get the best results

Our four development specialties are business/commercial, education, health care and recreation/leisure. Be sure to browse our photo gallery for details about some of our notable projects.

Business/Commercial

Commercial development is the core of our business at Lawler-Wood. Many of Knoxville’s most prominent landmarks, including the First Tennessee Plaza and Riverview Tower high-rise complexes as well as the former Whittle Communications headquarters, are Lawler-Wood projects.

Education

Lawler-Wood’s extensive experience in development for education gives us a unique understanding of the complex issues associated with college and university projects.

Health Care

Lawler-Wood has developed state-of-the-art medical facilities for some of the most trusted names in health care, such as St. Mary’s Health System, Baptist Health System of East Tennessee and Blount Memorial Hospital. We’ve also created parking and housing facilities for Tulane University Medical Center, the Health Education Authority of Louisiana and other health-related clients.

Recreation/Leisure

Some of our most exciting projects are forays into sun and fun—for example, the Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica. This $140 million project features a championship golf course, three full-service restaurants and a world-class spa, among other amenities.  We also have a tremendous amount of experience in government and community projects such as the Maryville Municipal Center and the $47 million Civic Arts Center in Maryville that is currently under construction.
